Colder weather develops in the east, mild and wet to the west


New Years Day
Cloud and periods of rain affecting Portugal and the far northwest of Spain to start 2016. Some patchy rain in the far south of Spain too, but fair elsewhere. The Balearics will be dry with sunny spells. More sunshine to come in Italy. Cloud and some outbreaks of rain for Greece, but cold and dry in Turkey.
Cloud and some patchy drizzle in western France, but fair with sunny spells elsewhere. Cool for the Low Countries and Germany. Some cloud and patchy snow in Poland. Austria, Hungary and Switzerland will be dry and cooler.
Cloud and some sleet or snow for Denmark. Dry and cold for the baltic States and remaining cool in Finland too. Cloud and the risk of some light snow over Sweden. Rain affecting western coasts of Norway and milder here too.

Saturday
A few showers in the far southeast of Spain on Saturday. Overall the day is going to be fair with good spells of sunshine. Cloud and some showery rain in the Balearics. Staying cloudy in Italy with some drizzle here. Chilly for Greece but dry with sunny spells, whilst snow showers affect northern Turkey.
Some rain in the far south of France, but otherwise a dry day with spells of sunshine. Cloud and some showers in the Low Countries, with cloud and showery rain in eastern Germany too. The cloud and sleet affecting western Poland, with the east dry with sunny spells. Broken cloud for Austria and Hungary, some snow over the Alps.
A windy and cold day in Denmark with cloud and some snow. Windy too for Norway, snow in the far southwest. Chilly across Sweden and the Baltic States as well as Sweden, these area being dry too.
