Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Much of Scandinavia dry, unsettled Baltic states

Monday
Most of Spain and Portugal will be dry and sunny, although some thunderstorms are possible for northern Spain. Highest temperatures toward the east, up to 32 to 35C. Similar high temperature across southern France, but high humidity will result in thunderstorms and torrential rain for central France. Thundery too for the western Alps. Much of the Mediterranean, Italy and Greece will be warm and sunny. Scattered thundery showers for the Balkans.
Meanwhile, Germany and the Low Countries will be dry with pleasant temperatures, 22 to 26C. Fair weather extends across central-eastern Europe toward the Black Sea. Fairly cool in Poland, 17 to 21C, with some rain toward the east. Low pressure over the Baltic states brings outbreaks of rain or showers. Much of Scandinavia will be dry, and generally warm, 22 to 26C, warmest southern Norway. Increasingly breezy for Denmark and south-west Norway.

Tuesday
A zone of thunderstorms is likely to exist and increasingly expand across central Europe, focused on Alpine regions and into the Balkan mountains. Scattered storms also expected for central-northern France, also northern Spain. Otherwise, there will be plenty of dry and warm weather across the continent. Lots of sunshine for Spain, Portugal and the Mediterranean, with temperatures well into the 30s Celsius for south-eastern Spain, Italy and Greece.
Fresher temperatures for north-central Europe, including much of Germany and Poland, 22 to 26C. Dry weather extends across many eastern countries. Showery rain for the Baltic states, some longer spells of rain possible. Southern Scandinvia will be very warm again, and northern Finland will also see high temperatures into the mid to high 20s. Possible thundery showers for northern Norway and Sweden.
