Dry central-eastern Europe; rain spreads across Scandinavia


Monday
Low pressure over Iberia sees thunderstorms break out increasingly across central Spain, with isolated storms possible for the south, and also Portugal, highs around 30C. Hot and sunny for France, widely topping 30C, highs 36C or above in the south. Hot too in Italy, mid-30s, with a risk of isolated thunderstorms by afternoon. Scattered showers for the Alps, and a risk of more widespread thunder for the central Balkans. Greece should stay dry, around 30C. Thundery for southern Romania.
High pressure extends across northern-central Europe, bringing fair weather to Germany and the Low Countries, 25 to 28C, hottest around Belgium. Dry for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. 29C in Hungary. Fair too for Poland and areas surrounding the Baltic, pleasant temperatures of 19 to 22C. Western Norway is wet and windy with fronts moving in from the Atlantic.


Tuesday
Areas of rain and thunderstorms for eastern Spain, and a few showers for Portugal, although western Spain may escape dry. Lots of sunshine across the Mediterranean. Hot again across France, small risk of a thundery shower in the west. Extensive dry weather across central and eastern Europe, with high pressure in charge. 25 to 28C for Germany and the Netherlands, 22 to 25C in Poland, 29C in Hungary. Much of Greece and the Balkans should stay largely dry, but a risk of rain for Bulgaria. Dry around the southern Baltic. Rain for northern Scandinavia, clearing to brighter spells for Norway, although showers following into the west. Blustery south-westerly winds for much of Scandinavia.
