Staying foggy in central ateas, but wind and rain to the north


New Year's Eve
Fair with sunny spells in Spain and Portugal. Scattered showers in the Balearics. Fair for Italy once morning fog has cleared, although it may linger all day in the north. Greece is fair with sunny spells, although showers in the east. Showers for Turkey, some of these heavy.
Fog may be widespread over France, this persisting in places through the day. Broken cloud in the far north of France and the Low Countries as well as north Germany and northern Poland. Fog in southern Poland and Germany, this affecting Switzerland, Hungary and Austria too.
A windy and dry day in Denmark. Some drizzle or patchy rain for the Baltic States where it will be remaining mild and windy throughout. Mostly dry in Finland with the risk of an odd shower. Patchy rain in the south of Sweden, dry to the north. Cold in centra and northern Norway with wintry showers here, but dry to the south.


New Year's Day
A mostly fair day for Portugal and Spain for the start of 2017. The sunshine continues through the Balearics. Italy sees morning fog once again, but this will be clearing to allow sunny spells to develop. Fair for most of Greece although some showers are likely in the south.
France should be fair with sunny spells, although some rain affecting northern coasts. Breezier with some outbreaks of rain later in the Low Countries and northern Germany. Fair across much of Poland and southern Germany with sunny spells here. Austria, Hungary and Switzerland should be fine and it should be bright for the south of France too.
Breezy with rain moving into Denmark. Breezy with drizzle through the Low Countries and sleet or snow in southern Finland. Rain in southern Sweden turning to snow. Heavy showers showers and much cooler weather arriving in Norway.
